LEV VLASSENKO PIANO COMPETITION 

Audition and repertoire requirements for rounds and specified list

First Round Requirements

Recital of 50 – 55 mins to be performed live, at a time, date and venue of the Competition’s choosing, which must include:

  • Prelude and Fugue by Bach ( from Well Tempered Klavier) or Shostakovich

  • Virtuoso Study by Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninov or Scriabin 

  • Classical Sonata by Haydn, Mozart or Clementi

  • Romantic Work(s) from the Specified List

  • and Own Choice of Work(s) if time permits 

Semi-finals Round

A 60 – 65 mins Recital to be performed live which must include:

  • Major Work of at least 15 minutes duration

  • Work by an Australian Composer of Own Choice

  • Own Choice of Work(s) as time permits 

Competitors must take note of the following: 

  • Works performed in First Round cannot be performed in Semi-finals Round

  • All Works must be performed from memory

  • Changes to nominated repertoire may be made up until 19 May 2024

  • No change can be made to the nominated piano concerto 

  • All sonatas must be performed in their entirety

  • No works for prepared piano are permitted.
