YASUMOTO, Elina
Elina Yasumoto was born in 1981 in Japan and moved to Australia in 1984. She began studying piano with Yoko Iseki, then with Elizabeth Powell from 1994 to 2003 and is currently a pupil of Professor Stephen McIntyre AM.  She completed the Bachelor of Music degree with first class honours at the University of Melbourne where she has since been a casual lecturer in performance studies. She received the Australian Postgraduate Award in 2005 and twice received the Dean’s Award (Sydney Conservatorium of Music). Elina was a national finalist in the 2001 Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Scholarship, a finalist in the 2002 City of Sydney John Allison Piano Scholarship, a finalist in the 2004 Australian National Piano Award and a semi-finalist in the fourth and fifth Lev Vlassenko Piano Competitions. Elina has broadcast recitals and chamber music over the MBS-FM network and ABC Classic FM. She has performed with the University of Melbourne Faculty Orchestra as concerto soloist under the baton of Marco Zuccarini and in the Piano Landmarks Concert Series.
